At Least Someone's Catching Fish

Thanks goes out to another fellow Nevadan out there catching some good looking Rainbows on the Carson River.

September 9, 2006
"These pictures are of myself and my friend Gene, fishing the East fork of the Carson River near the Nevada/California border. I caught two Rainbows on spinning lures (the one below was 11 inches). Gene had a great time with his Fly setup, but no luck that day (couple of bites though). "

Another Successful Evening Dove Hunt

We figured before the weather turned cold and all of the Dove decided to leave town that we would hit up one of our favorite spots for another successful evening dove hunt...and successful it was.

DOVE NUGGETS
10-14 Dove
1 Egg
1 Cup Bread Crumbs
Garlic Powder
Sea Salt
Cracked Pepper
Fresh Rosemary
3 tbls. Olive Oil
2 tsp. Garlic

Split doves down the back and slice 1/4 inch thin strips from each of the bird's breast. Add all spice ingredients to the bread crumbs and then whisk the egg in a seperate bowl. Wet the meat in the egg wash and then lightly toss in the breadcrumb mixture. Put pieces to the side.

Add oil and garlic to a large saute pan on the stove. Get the pan really hot and then place the Dove pieces into the oiled pan. Brown on all sides which should take about 5 minutes. Remove and let rest for 3-5 minutes. They taste just like chicken nuggets so feel free to use your favorite condimant's or dipping sauce or simply eat alone.

I just thought this lizard looked cool so I threw it into this email.

What's for Dinner...Did You Say RattleSnake?

SNAKE WARNING: Venomous Snakes Highly Active in Nevada.

This lovely little gem of a creature was one of four RattleSnakes that just so happened to be in the very same 'DOVE' hunting spot that we had been frequenting this season. Unlucky for the snake, he or she has now become a personal pet as well as a scheduled meal to one of our Crazy Insane Friends who finds enjoyment in playing, handling and then eating the venomous creatures.

Here's a quick peak at the other Larger RattleSnake we found a year or so back near Pyramid Lake as well as some favorite recipe's if you too ever want to cook your new found pet rattler.

TOP 12 RattleSnake Recipe's

If you have any other recipe's or recommendations for cooking RattleSnake, please feel free to send them to info@fishthewest.com.

Bye Bye Birdie's

FRIDAY: September 1
Evening Hunt
Opening day we started out with nothing but a few sightings of dove, but easily found ourselves running out of daylight without having had too many shots. We didn't really mind since we still had 29 days left and and a weather forecast that looked to remain above the freezing mark.

SATURDAY: September 2
Evening Hunt
Limited out in a matter of what seemed to be minutes and had a couple of surprise encounters with two young Rattle Snakes. Just like the Dove, one got away and the other ...well let's just say he came a little to close for my comfort and easily found himself to be a gonner.

Thanks for the "Good Eats".

SUNDAY: September 3
Morning Hunt
Sunday morning was a good day for getting back into the birds but wasn't nearly as bountiful as the day prior.
