Trout Fishing is Hot at Boulder Reservoir, Nevada

Thanks to Wayne for yet another great Nevada Adventure...

"My son Ethan had a junior deer tag for one of the northern Washoe areas. He was unsuccesful, but showed great sportsmanship. He passed up a spike in the first 15 minutes of the hunt, and also a forky that we snuck up on within 50 yards the next day. We saw 25 or so does within 100 yards, but he wanted something bigger than last year (3 point). After hiking and glassing for 3 days we saw a nice 4 point at about 600 yards, but couldn't catch up to it.

Some good news though, I remembered to bring the fly rods the first time. We took 30 minutes to fish Boulder Resevoir on 10-27 05, before supper. We got out of the truck at camp and the reservoir was bubbling. No time to change the #16 rust Birds Nest that I was fishing the Truckee a few days earlier. The moss was bad around the edges, but I was able to get the fly out far enough. I didn't add weight to the fly, I just cast it out and skipped it across the top, and bam! These rainbows fight!

I don't think I've had that much fun in 30 minutes of fishing in a long time. These fish were 14 inches and fat! Ethan caught an elevan incher. Check 'em out!"

Thanks, Wayne
